According to the National Retail Federation, consumer spending on Halloween-related items is expected to reach $10.14 billion in 2021 with $3 billion of that expected to be spent on candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters. Though you want the kids in your neighborhood to have a fun Halloween, you don’t want to contribute to their bags full of cavity-causing candy. So, what are some good Halloween candy alternatives? Here are a few ideas that the neighborhood kids are sure to love.

Tasty Treats

Candy may be tasty, but it isn’t the only way to make sure the kids in your neighborhood have a happy Halloween. Consuming too much candy and other sweet foods can lead to painful cavities and other oral health issues. Consider passing out healthier alternatives to Halloween candy such as granola bars, sugar-free gum, clementines, and mini water bottles.

Fashionable Fits

Half the fun of Halloween is dressing up, so why not hand out fun, spooky accessories? With this method, you won’t be contributing to cavities, but you will be contributing to style! Some Halloween accessories you can give out to trick-or-treaters include glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth, novelty glasses, glow bracelets, slap bracelets, LED rings, scrunchies and hair clips. Temporary tattoos can add a bit of extra flare to their outfits and make them the coolest kids on the playground.

Terrific Toys

Along with fun and fashionable accessories and tasty treats, you can hand out Halloween themed school supplies like bookmarks, mini notepads, pencils, stamps, crayons, and erasers. There are also a number of fun toys kids love that can be bought in bulk. Some examples include slime or Play-Doh, plush toys shaped like pumpkins, ghosts, skeletons, black cats, or other Halloween-themed things, slinkies, mini skateboards, bubbles, bouncy balls, finger puppets, yo-yos, or coloring and activity books.

Halloween season doesn’t have to be all about the candy. There are a variety of fun toys, accessories, and other items you can give out to trick-or-treaters that they’re sure to love. So, consider handing these out instead to help cut back on the sugar and give the neighborhood kids a healthier Halloween.
